Youth Lens Film Festival

About

YLFF is a platform to engage and inspire youth to use their voices and showcase their perspectives and stories through the medium of film.

The festival is aimed specifically at youth, as it’s meant to be a platform for them to make their voices heard, to share their stores and perspectives through the power of short films.

The festival stays true to the multicultural aspect of CMHC, as participants from various backgrounds and walks of life are encouraged to share their films. YLFF showcases a diverse selection of short films from all across Canada and the rest of the world.

The actual subject of the films is entirely up to the director. In the past we have screened films of various genres, from animated to horror to documentaries.

The themes of these films have also been varied, from highlighting global issues such as climate change, to youth-centric issues such as anxiety, to more light–hearted films aiming to inspire and entertain audiences.

Submissions can be made online through our FilmFreeway Page. All selected films will be uploaded onto the festival’s YouTube channel. Participants will also be invited to attend the two day festival, which will feature a screening of the films, and other exciting events such as award presentations, receptions, exhibitions, seminars, workshops and networking opportunities.
