Stop motion animation is a simple, hands-on creative activity that requires no expertise. It encourages self development, confidence, teamwork skills, increased self esteem, and it\’s a fun and interesting way to explore and express ideas. All selected creations will be premiered online.
Workshop will be led by an experienced instructor, so you don\’t need to know a thing about stop motion. All you need to start making some amazing creations is a smartphone or tablet and a positive attitude!
Classes start Sep 7, 2020 and will be held virtually once per week for 10 weeks from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. There will be classes running everyday of the week, and you\’ll be scheduled into a specific day at the start of the workshop.
There are only 50 spaces available in total. It\’s 1st come 1st serve basis.

Prerequisites:
Basic level of digital literacy. Can produce photos, videos, and send/receive emails, texts etc on their device
Have the ability to record videos/audio and take photos with their smartphone
Feel comfortable sharing and uploading content from their smartphone via email, google drive, dropbox or wetransfer
Attend each virtual class via phone, tablet or laptop. (Classes last 2 hours, so ensure device can rest hands free)
Have an interest in art, storytelling, filmmaking and thinking outside the box
Be open minded to learning new creative skills, and connecting with other members within the artistic community
Materials + Equipment:
Reliable internet connection
A computer, tablet or smartphone to host weekly zoom classes (Device must be charged)
A smartphone with a minimum storage space of 1GB (will be used as camera throughout the course and is separate from device that will host the class)
Stop Motion Studio Pro App installed (make sure all features are available, once purchased) https://www.cateater.com/
Tripod, mount or a stack of books/boxes etc. to hold device in place (this will be reviewed further in class)
Table or desk space used for small animation studio
Comfortable chair
Light source: desk lamps, natural light, LED spotlights etc. (this will be reviewed further in class)
Headphones
Materials: Paper (magazines, construction paper, tissue paper etc.), Found Objects, Tape, Craft supplies: Beads, buttons, fabric, clay etc.
