Sikh Art & Film Festival
About
Held in the middle of Sikh Heritage Month (April), SAFF is dedicated to promoting Sikh heritage and culture. The festival aims to foster discussions and explore and promote a greater understanding of the Sikh identity.
What does it mean to be Sikh? What is the Sikh identity? The Sikh Art and Film Festival tackles questions such as these, and is dedicated to promoting and fostering dialogue on Sikh identity and culture.
Running for 7 years, the festival features a wide range of language independent films that aim to celebrate the art and music of Sikh artists around the world.
Alongside the films, SAFF also features theatrical performances, exhibitions, seminars, and workshops.
Part of CMHC’s mandate is to develop the arts and cultural heritage of multicultural communities as part of the larger Canadian arts and culture landscape.
This is why people of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend the festival, so that there can be inter-community collaboration in the spirit of sharing and learning, This also helps to achieve the festival’s goal of promoting a greater understanding of the Sikh identity.
